Ever since I was old enough to comprehend newspaper stories and watch CNN with my family, I have always noticed that top news stories are overwhelmingly negative and mainly focused on depressing topics that make me want to change the channel or flip the page. While I am not naive to the fact that there is an endless supply of turmoil and tragedy to report as breaking news, I am also aware that there is an equal amount of positive stories out there to counteract negative news and give viewers/readers some balance.
It is from this hope for a more positive society and a more positive self that the main purpose of this blog is derived. My goal is to provide my readers with not only an outlet for uplifting news, but also with the opportunity to see the world through the same lens of positivity with which I write these stories. Now, this doesn't mean I am going to be a biased, sugar-coating, prancing-through-fields-of-daisies kind of writer. I like my news like I like my coffee: half-and-half. I like to know the good AND the bad, but I also prefer to be left hopeful not heartbroken.
In keeping with my belief in a more balanced representation of the news, I will do my best to report on what is happening, not only in the community, but also in the world outside of Chapel Hill. My posts may range from serious topics to lighthearted ones, including my personal interests in art, music, and the environment. If you happen to stubble upon this page accidentally, I hope that your experience leaves you a little more informed and a lot less grumpy.
